What is Blast Score?
Blast Score ranks every batter on today's slate by their home run probability, combining power metrics with today's specific matchup conditions.
How it's calculated:
The score is driven primarily by batter power (season ISO and wOBA), then adjusted for pitch matchup (how the batter performs vs the pitcher's specific arsenal), park factor, wind conditions, lineup position, and pitcher quality (xFIP).
Tiers:
Elite HR Threat8–10Best HR spots on the slate — elite power + ideal conditions
HR Threat6–7.9Strong candidates — solid power with favorable matchup
HR Pop4–5.9Has the ingredients but conditions aren't perfectly aligned
Dark Horse1–3.9Lower probability, but still ranked in the top 50 candidates
Blast Score is based on season-level power metrics and today's specific matchup. It does not currently factor in recent hot or cold streaks.
